Raise your hand if watching the movie Marie Antoinette directed by Sofia Coppola, has not, at least once, rubbed my eyes in front of the inviting sequence in which the cakes are the Ladurée masters: the pyramids of macarons, trays of cupcakes, frosted cookies and other treats make their appearance sparking wonder, awe and even a little peckish ...
So I wanted to try it, organizing a small 'Marie Antoinette Party', aided by the Marie Antoinette tea of Ladurée (the store in Milan is an incitement to commit a crime!) And the cookies frosted homemade!
recipe for cookies
250g butter 500g flour 4 eggs yolks
200g icing sugar 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract (or lemon)
Remove butter from refrigerator , cut into cubes and mix, still cold, the flour until the mixture is by the 'sand'. Form the mixture
a fountain in the center of which will be paid the egg yolks, icing sugar and vanilla (or lemon zest). Knead until dough is compact, then cover with plastic wrap and let rest in refrigerator for at least an hour.
Once the set time has elapsed remove the pastry from the refrigerator, dust the work surface with flour, roll out with rolling pin and cut with shapes. The ones I used gave me for Christmas, they are not adorable?
Bake at 180 degrees for 12-14 minutes.
recipe for the frosting
Icing sugar 300g
boiling water Food coloring (two or three tablespoons)
Mix boiling water with the icing sugar to obtain a fairly thick cream. Divide the icing into several bowls and neutral colors and adds the food (stir occasionally to prevent granulated sugar).
Then decorate the cookies to taste, adding sugar or small pasta twirls with glitter!
I accompanied my delicious cookies with the tea Marie Antoinette of Ladurée, an irresistible mixture of black tea, spices and essential oils (grapefruit, lemon, bitter orange, mandarin, lime), flowers ( rose, jasmine), honey and small pieces of dried fruit. This tea has an irresistible aroma and a delicate flavor, the taste of honey in which prevails over the other flavors. A very sweet and refined tea ... Maybe for this was called Marie Antoinette?
Hoping to have softened even the day ...
